Our Mission
GolfHER's mission is to bridge the gender gap in business networking by empowering professional women to participate confidently in golf, the unofficial language of business. We provide a supportive environment where businesswomen can learn, practice, and master both the game of golf and the art of business relationship building that happens on the course.
Program Overview
Born from a revealing moment at a women's business luncheon at Copper Rock Golf Course, where only 1% of approx. 500 professional women identified as golfers, GolfHER addresses a critical gap in business networking opportunities for women. Our program recognizes that important business discussions and decisions often happen on the golf course, and women who don't golf are missing out on these crucial conversations and opportunities.

Meet The Board:
Annie Simkins
Annie is the Founder and President of GolfHER. She joined Hughes General Contractors as Director of Marketing and Business Development, leveraging her MBA from Walden University and a comprehensive background in business administration from Utah Tech University. Previously, she empowered member services at St. George Area Chamber Of Commerce, enhancing community engagement and business partnerships.
Jordan Hess
Jordan is the VP of GolfHER. He currently is the Public Affairs Officer for Washington City. Jordan earned a Political Science degree from Brigham Young University in 2011 and began his career interning at the Utah State Senate. Jordan worked in local politics before joining U.S. Senator Mike Lee’s Washington, DC office in 2012, eventually becoming a policy advisor and later managing Lee’s 2016 re-election campaign. He also served as VP of Public Policy at the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce.
Wendi Bulkley
Wendi is the Executive Director of the Trailblazer Club & Athletic Development Officer at Utah Tech University, with 21 years of expertise in sports, recreation, events, fundraising, and marketing. Her leadership has transformed corporate partnerships into millions in funding, advancing the university to Division 1 status.
Cindy Powell
With years of business and marketing experience at Utah Tech University and now as Associate Manager of Marketing with TDS Telecom, Cindy is a dedicated people connector. She is passionate about helping women build confidence and encouraging them to embrace opportunities thru the language of golf.
Dr. Ed Shardlow
Dr. Shardlow, Assistant Professor at SUU since 2022 and Department Chair since 2025, transitioned to academia after eight years in medical malpractice law. He teaches various business courses while researching how organizational behavior, HR, and law intersect.

How much does the program cost?
The program fee is $100 (fully tax deductible) for six comprehensive two-hour sessions. This investment helps us maintain quality instruction, equipment, and facilities while keeping costs as low as possible. Scholarships are available.
Do I need my own golf clubs to participate?
We supply golf clubs for everyone, so don't let not having equipment stop you from participating! Participants who have their own clubs are welcome to use them during lessons to build comfort and consistency with their personal set.
What do I need to wear to the clinics?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing that's breathable for our warm climate and sturdy athletic shoes. Think athletic shorts or pants, a moisture-wicking shirt, and sneakers that provide good traction on grass.
I've never played golf - is this the right place for me?
Yes! This program is perfect for beginners. We will provide instruction to help you develop competency for tournament play. No prior golf experience is needed - we'll start with the basics and build your skills from there.
